Rassy Ltd. is humbled by the honor of having Nevado inducted into the distinguished
Paso Fino Hall of Fame. This is truly a pivotal threshold in Nevado’s
lifetime to join the Great Ones of the past – Capuchino, Coral LaCE, El Pastor, Ensueno de Colombia, Hilachas, Kera
Que Tal, Majestuoso, Mar de Plata LaCE and Plebeyo.
Nevado was born November 1, 1981,
in Medellin, Colombia. Nevado’s sire is the honorable Resorte IV and his
dam is Zarina, a daughter of Pistolero. The world famous Paso Fino breeder,
Dayro Chica Arias of Hacienda Lusitania, bred Nevado. And to this day,
Dayro Chica claims Nevado is his best masterpiece.
When
Nevado was a yearly, Fabio Ochoa bought him and then sold him after approximately one year.
He followed Nevado’s show ring progress and after witnessing the young colt’s dynamic potential, Fabio
Ochoa bought Nevado back for a second time. It is said that Fabio Ochoa
was so impressed with Nevado that he branded him on both of his shoulders – an unusual ceremony for the world-renowned
breeder of Paso Fino Champions.
At
an early age, Nevado made his way into the world of competition where he rivaled the best of the best and even won against
his own Sire, Resorte IV, and his half brother, Capuchino.
But
Nevado’s true fame came to light by the excellence of his offspring and their stellar ability to produce brilliant offspring. Many believe it is genetics at its best!
Nevado
represents the true total Paso Fino package. He is considered as one of the only breeding stallions to consistently pass on traits that far surpass his own. Nevado is highly praised for his ability to sire World, International and National Champions and
is unique because of his extraordinary Resorte and Pistolero bloodlines. His
offspring consistently pay tribute to him with their Nevado-like gentle temperament, their quiet croup, electrifying energy
and their consistent superb four beat gait.
All
of these wonderful offspring traits provide them the superior ability to consistently win in the Paso Fino Show Ring and represent
the desired foundation-breeding stock of many distinguished Paso Fino breeders.
At age 14, Nevado last competed
at the 1996 Asheville Show where he took second place in the Fino Stallion Class to the then World Champion Classic Fino Stallion,
Simbolo.
Nevado
has been honored as a Top Ten Sire for 9 years. This achievement is extraordinary
because Nevado did not commercially breed during July 1996 – March 2000.
Son
of Nevado - Profeta de Besilu, although known for his breathtaking show record as a Multi World Champion, three-time US Grand
National Champion Fino Stallion, Ponce International Grand Champion Fino Stallion, and two-time Grand Champion Fino Stallion
in Colombia, is now enjoying his fifth year as a Top Ten Sire demonstrating the dazzling qualities of his genes.
Son
of Nevado, Springtime Radiante’, joined his Sire and Profeta as a 2001 Top Ten Sire for his outstanding ability to produce
winners.
Son
of Nevado, El Duque’, during his short lifetime, created superior offspring that are now winning in the show ring and
as well taking their place in the breeding shed. El Duque’ was recently
honored as a 2002 Top Ten Sire joining Nevado and Profeta.
There
are so many champions to mention such as the famous Jazmin of Colombia, Mensaje del Ocho and Resorte de Selecta of Puerto
Rico and Nevado’s newest Classic Fino star, Pistolero de Calidad, who is just beginning his career in the winning circle. Most importantly, though, Nevado offspring are considered to be foundation-breeding
stock and are rarely seen available for sale by their notable owners.
There
is no doubt that Nevado’s offspring will continue to be our future champions and offspring producers.
Nevado
is truly a champion sire - one that will be honored for many years to come.
